La risposta che io e Mariacristina abbiamo ricevuto da amici, parenti e quelli che cercavamo da anni ad evitare e’ stata travolgente (in un senso assolutamente positivo); grazie tanto a tutti per la vostra gentilezza, generosita’, sostegno e amore. Ha un significato piu’ grande di quanto possiate imagginare.

I have, however, had an echocardiogram, which looks at my heart and checks it’s strong enough after the last treatment to put up with more chemo. I haven’t heard about the results yet.

It sounds likely I will be getting a Hickman line (a tube into an artery in my chest through which it will be easier to deliver chemo, take blood etc), though it could happen as late as Friday; this would not necessarily delay chemo, though, as the first one could be given through a cannula (in my arm).

All the chemo drugs this time around are intravenous, but I will need a diagnostic lumbar puncture (needle in the spine) to check the state of my cerebrospinal fluid.

Non e’ ancora successo granche’, perche’ non posso iniziare la chemioterapia con questa tosse; nel frattempo le cose preparative stanno avanzando… lentamente… probabilmente perche’ dobbiamo aspettare in ogni caso.

Pero’, ho avuto un’ecocardiogramma per controllare lo stato del mio cuore, particolarmente dopo aver gia’ subito la chemioterapia in passato. Non ho ancora sentito dei risultati.

Probabilmente ricevero’ un tubo Hickman, che fornira’ accesso diretto ad un’arteria nel mio petto per facilitare la spedizione della chemioterapia e il prelievo del sangue; me lo daranno fra oggi e venerdi’. La chemioterapia potrebbe sempre iniziare prima, perche’ il primo tipo potrei ricevere attraverso una ‘cannula’ (in una vena del braccio).

Questa volta tutta la chemioterapia sara’ endovenosa, ma ho bisogno di una puntura lombare diagnostica per fare un’analisi del liquido cerebrospinale.
