Now and then (part 1)

As you can imagine, my return to the Ruth Myles Unit was accompanied by an enormous sense of déjà-vu, having previously made the ward my home for the best part of 13 months between October 2005 and January 2007. This is reinforced by a number of familiar faces on the staff: SuperLee, Nelly and Banoo … Continue reading Now and then (part 1)

What’s going on? Leukaemia? Eh?

My first post was a bit abrupt and didn't really explain very much, and having forgotten that I'd linked the blog to Facebook, I realise it will have left lots of people wondering what's going on. Much as I might love to cultivate an air of mystery, this probably isn't the time or place, so... … Continue reading What’s going on? Leukaemia? Eh?

Make something foolproof…

I’m living life because I’m alive (woohoo!) – despite the best efforts of cancer. At the end of October 2005, I was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia, at the age of 23.

Since then, I’ve recovered (2008), ‘survived’ (2013), relapsed (2013), had a stem cell transplant (2014) and recovered again (ongoing).

And I’m still here, thanks to amazing medical staff, bacon sandwiches, wonderful friends and family, my fabulous wife Mariacristina, a handy preference for taking things as they come and my superstar donor Tim.

A lot of it’s here, but I’d love to tell you more – I’m a writer and a speaker and love to share my story, so get in touch if we can do some good together.

The whole shebang, by date
