Je suis chez moi.Hurrah! After a tough second half of Phase 2 ('twas pretty horrid), then that blasted infection (even horrider: the Monday it kicked in was probably the most unpleasant day I've had), an even stronger aversion to hospital food, much bed-swapping, nasty side-effects from the antibiotics and a great difficulty in sleeping well … Continue reading Woo-yippididoo-la-la!
Second attempt..
George has now been given the go-ahead to come home until Monday 6 Feb. I'm driving up in just a minute to collect him, while the repaired central heating works hard to get the house back up to temperature........
Umm ..
Slight change of plan! As George's temperature has risen, his trip home has been delayed. Update tomorrow. He was due back in hospital on Thursday, so it will be an even shorter 'holiday'. Incidentally, he had to move out of his room today for an emergency admission, and, at this stage, I do not know … Continue reading Umm ..
A holiday by the sea….
Great news! George is being released for a few days at home after his bone marrow test this afternoon. He will have to be back at St George's for the next phase of treatment on Thursday or Friday. So I do hope the gas man manages to mend the boiler at home this afternoon!!! More … Continue reading A holiday by the sea….
Ever onward, ever upward …
Today the neutrophils have reached 1.0...Great! And the SATS (oxygen levels) are recovering.
From the Base Camp, the Summit seems a long way off….
Hi! This is Andrew's contribution. As you will have guessed by the lack of regular posts, the uphill climb following George's infection is a bit of a struggle! The infection was somewhat more drastic than just a cold - and I am sorry if my comment on a previous post led you to believe that … Continue reading From the Base Camp, the Summit seems a long way off….
Urgent
Please do not use George's hospital telephone number with immediate notice as George is being moved to a different room. His specialist room is required for a bone marrow transplant patient who probably does not want you all calling him and asking for George!
Ease up cowboy..
It's Fred here, and just a quick update on Georgey. Since having this infection he's been up and down, but never really feeling great. Doing anything tires him out and he can be short of breath sometimes as well, due to the infection affecting his chest. Because of this could people please refrain from calling … Continue reading Ease up cowboy..
Urghhh…
...Hi everyone, Jo and Rachael here. George has asked us to let you know that he is still in the green room but that he is currently looking a similar colour to the walls as a bug has invaded via his intravenous line and so he is feeling a bit ropey. The bug is giving … Continue reading Urghhh…
Oh bug-ger…
...It seems I have picked up a bug. Unfortunatley, what with having no neutrophils, I haven’t got much to fight it. However, the nice doctors with their nice antibiotics are fighting the good fight for me. Hopefully, with their help, I can shake it off in time for when I’m allowed to go home! Otherwise … Continue reading Oh bug-ger…
